Who is Davide?

Davide Cerreta is an Italian-German jazz singer, pianist, composer, arranger, lyricist, and educator who has appeared in several international venues, TV shows, and festivals around the world, including Umbria Jazz Festival, X-Factor (Sky1), Rai 1 (National Italian Channel), The Jazz Bakery (LA), 55 Bar (NYC), A-Trane Jazz Club (Berlin), MHH Theater (Paris), Ateneo Theater (Panama), Van Beecks Mini-Theater (Amsterdam), Gregory's Jazz Club (Roma), among others.

 

Cerreta is an Assistant Professor for the Voice Department at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.

How did it all start?

Davide Cerreta, born and raised in Roma, Italy, has  always been fascinated by music. His first introduction to the arts was through his fathers music collection. From then on Cerreta's musical curiosity had sprouted.

Cerreta began taking piano lessons at the age of 9, the guitar at the age of 12, and vocal lessons shortly after. Since an adolescent, Davide has been captivated by the velvety voices of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Bing Crosby, and Sammy Davis Jr.

At the age of 19, Cerreta had decided to formally continue his musical studies.

Formal Studies

Davide Cerreta pursued a Jazz Voice Bachelor Degree at the Domenico Cimarosa Conservatory in Avellino.

Cerreta spent his post graduate career performing in Berlin for five years followed by a two year residence in Paris, and subsequently relocated to the United States to further his musical endeavors.  

Cerreta won a full scholarship to the Berklee Global Jazz Institute (BGJI), a master's program in Global Music Performance, led by Director Marco Pignataro, and Artistic Director Danilo Perez. 

Cerreta studied and played with world wide known musicians and Grammy award nominees and winners: George Garzone, John Patitucci, Terry Lynn Carrington, Danilo Perez, Dianne Reeves, Joe Lovano, Ben Street, and Adam Cruz, among others.

Teaching Career

Davide Cerreta has been teaching virtually and in-person for over a decade. He won a fellowship to teach at the Danilo Perez Foundation in Panama City, Panama. 

Cerreta taught to both the teachers and the talented students of FDP. 

During this time, Cerreta worked with local outreach programs to provide music education to the most vulnerable communities of the Panamanian society.

Vocal Coach

In January 2022, Davide Cerreta moved to New York, New York. He provides private lessons to music professionals, as well as, has experience teaching at various public and private schools.

August 2022, Cerreta taught a two day master class on his own scat improvisation method at Berklee College of Music.

This event led to the opportunity for Cerre to become Assistant Professor for the Berklee College of Music Voice. Department.

Performance Career

Cerreta has performed throughout Europe, North America, South America, and Central America for the past 13 years in Festivals, TV Shows, Theaters, and Jazz Clubs.

Cerreta is currently based in New York City, performing as a singer and pianist. He is composing and arranging for an upcoming project.
